FAQs

You have questions? We have answers. Here are some of the most common things we get asked about.

What does direct hire mean?

Direct hire means that you are employed directly by a US healthcare facility for a permanent, full-time position. And you receive an equitable compensation package (salary and employee benefits) based on your qualifications and years of experience. It’s neither an assignment nor a placement; it’s direct employment for a permanent staff position.

What is the difference between direct hire and contract placement?

Direct hire starts with a permanent staff position and recruits for that specific role. Contract placement begins with general recruitment and confirms a worksite location later in the process. Therefore, the main distinction is that direct hire offers a career choice, and contract placement ensures a future job assignment.

Check out our article on 3 Differences to Consider When Planning your US Nursing Career.

How do you choose between direct hire and contract placement?

With all decisions in life, being clear on what you want and why you want it produces the best outcome. What do you want from your US experience? What is personal and professional fulfillment to you? List your priorities, values, negotiables, and non-negotiables and use them as a guide. Then speak to as many recruiters as possible and gather information. Finally, make comparisons based on your preferences and basics, such as compensation packages, career development opportunities, and job locations. These steps will empower your decision-making. And they’ll help you determine which option best suits your needs and will most likely bring fulfillment.

How is Global Nurse Partners' program different from traditional direct hire?

Our Partnership Program has similarities to other direct-hire opportunities, but its differences make it unique. Our placement model is the same—you are hired directly by a healthcare facility for a permanent staff position—but the service level differs significantly.

With Global Nurse Partners, you receive comprehensive support from the point of recruitment to the end of your program agreement and beyond. We assist with each phase of the process to qualify and prepare you for living and working in the US. And we help with relocation and set up once you arrive, including temporary housing. But unlike other direct-hire models, our support continues until you complete your program commitment to ensure your transition is smooth and you adjust to life in the US, and that includes family members. And as such, our model offers the best of both worlds—a permanent staff position and full-cycle support. It’s truly comprehensive, and we’re with you every step of the way.
